Jacquelyn Thomas

Founder

Scientist, Educator, and pioneer in STEM and STEAM Education. Dr. Jacquelyn Thomas has been implementing STEM-project based programs before the department of education created the acronym. As the Executive Director and Founder of Kids N Technology, a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization, she developed the Girls Pursuing Science program to engage girls in chemistry and math as early as 4th grade. GPS is an award winning curriculum that is being implemented in school districts nationally during after school, STEM Saturday, and Summer Camps.

Dr. Thomas’ strongest attributes are leadership, building strong collaborations and leveraging resources. She is an Entrepreneur, certified Chemist, and Middle School Robotics Facilitator. Her awards include: American Graduate -(PBS-Public Broadcasting Station), Best STEM Program (WTIV-Charlotte), Best Community Award (WTVI-Charlotte), and Small Business of the Year (SBA-TN). She is a member of WISE (Women In Science Engineering) and also volunteers two times per week, implementing hands on STEM activities with girls from Druid Hills Academy, and Greater Enrichment Program, Inc.

Veronica Lake

Educational Consultant

Veronica Lake is an accomplished educator with rich academic and administrative experience of more than 3 decades across various renowned Education Institutions. Veronica strives to help teachers and leaders create classrooms that are vibrant and exciting learning spaces for both students and teachers. She is passionate about STEM/STEAM education which is imperative for preparing young learners for college and jobs of the future.

As an instructional leader she knows that teachers need evidence-based, practical strategies and applications that can be implemented immediately – without compromising what is working in their classrooms. This is why she became a consultant for Girls Pursuing Science. In her own words: “As major consumers in the beauty and cosmetic industries, it’s time that we purposefully teach girls (and boys too) how to plan and think like entrepreneurs at an early age. There is no better way to make science and math real and relevant!”

Elena Tobin

Sales Representative,

Elena has been in the field of education nineteen years. She studied special education as an undergraduate, and has a Master's degree in Educational Technology. Elena has had a variety of roles in her career, from classroom teacher, to county leader, consulting district teams in Assertive Technology, to most recently, as a district leader, responsible for edtech professional development, and spearheading classroom integration initiatives whenever possible.

She joins the GPS sales team on a part-time basis, sharing the #beautyofsicience with schools in several states. Find her on social media (@ElenaT_KNT) as a valuable resource to all things STEM education and Educational Technology.

Elena's expertise in technology integration, 21st Century best practices, and the importance of Girls in STEM, provides school districts with strategies to expand their summer, after school, and enrichment programs for girls in the digital age.

Kia Mack

Sales Representative,

Kia has worked in the field of education for over 12 years. Her studies in psychology lead her to obtain a Masters degree in Behavioral Science where she became a certified School Counselor in the state of New York. While her focus has always been to serve students in high need areas, she has had the opportunity to explore as an educator in various educational settings. From the suburbs of Westchester County working in the city school district of White Plains, she wore several hats as she completed her school based counseling practicum. Providing as a group leader for after-school enrichment, to spearheading a district wide technology upgrade, she remained ready and willing to learn as much as she could. Kia continued her experience in higher education at Mercy College overseeing the Science Technology Entry Program, which integrated students from two diverse school districts with the opportunity to participate in pre-collegiate studies on a college campus. She continued in the field of education providing as a guidance counselor and health educator for a total of 8 years.

Kia Joins GPS as a part-time sales consultant/ BOS party hostess. Kia will utilize her expertise as an educator to connect schools in the state of New York with the Beauty of Science curriculum. BOS will not only serve as an activity based enrichment program but also as an eye opening experience which will prepare our youth for careers and studies in STEM majors. BOS parties will provide a fun, exciting, invigorating atmosphere where little girls can celebrate their birthday and partake in creating magical products!
